Urography
The urography method, also known as secretory or excretory urography and contrast urography etc., is one of the most popular methods to assess and analyze the functions of the human urinary system. This approach is based upon the kidney''s ability to allocate specific soluble substances containing X-ray contrast iodine, so that they will appear on radiographs. This procedure is primarily applied when disease or injury of the urinary tract and kidneys is suspected. In this case, the urography can give a complete picture of the state, structure and function of these organs. The method is widely used, though it is not recommended if there is any possibility of renal failure, or if the patient is at increased risk of having a heart attack or stroke.
